resaw is a free iPhone app that saves videos and links from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and the web, and files them into folders on its own. This page is about who makes it, why it exists, and its rules.
Who makes resaw
resaw is built and run by Tanmay Patel, an independent developer based in Mumbai, India. There is no company behind it beyond that, which is why the name on the terms and the privacy policy is a person rather than a brand. You can reach him directly at hello@resaw.app, and that address is read by the person who wrote the code.
Why it exists
The Instagram saved tab is where good intentions go to pile up: recipes you meant to cook, restaurants you meant to try, ideas you meant to use. Instagram gives you no search box for it, no automatic sorting, and no way to get the pile out except Meta's data export. resaw started as a tool to read that export file and turn hundreds of anonymous bookmarks into a collection with real titles, folders and a search bar. It launched on the App Store on August 23, 2026.
It imports the saved_posts file from your own Instagram data export. It never logs in to Instagram and uses no Instagram API.
Every save gets a real title, tags and a folder, worked out by reading the caption and images. Recipe reels become step by step cook-alongs, places get pinned on a map, and you can ask questions of your own saves in plain language.
After the import, you can keep saving from any app on your phone with the share sheet.
You sign in with Apple or Google, so there is no password to manage or leak.
The rules it follows
Private by default. There is no feed and no sharing between people. Nothing you save is shown to anyone else.
Honest about AI. To title, tag and file each save, its text and images are sent to Google Gemini and Groq for analysis. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is sent and kept.
Yours to take back. Export your whole collection whenever you want, and delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, without emailing anyone to ask.
No ads, no selling data. resaw is not funded by advertising, and nothing you save is sold to anyone.
A note on the name
"Resaw" is also a woodworking term for cutting a board along its width on a bandsaw. This site and this app have nothing to do with that. If you arrived here looking for the app, you are in the right place.
